Adventure to Saddle Mountain

Saddle Mountain Open Space Preserve, Santa Rosa

Join LandPaths and Ag + Open Space to explore Saddle Mountain, a 960-acre preserve above Rincon Valley, on the eastern boundary of Santa Rosa. Take in the view from the top of the mountain, where Spring Lake, Taylor Mountain and almost all of Santa Rosa Plain are visible. This property contains a quarter of the Mark West watershed, identified as one of the most important habitats to protect in our region.  Mark West Creek is home to both Coho salmon and Steelhead trout, and serves as a wildlife corridor for terrestrial and aquatic species. Come and discover the many benefits of protecting this variety of native habitats.

 

Location: Cleland Ranch and Calistoga Road

Carpooling  destination: A carpool from Rincon Valley Regional Library will leave at 8:45.

Rincon Valley Regional Library: 6959 Montecito Blvd, Santa Rosa, CA 95409.

 

What to bring:

  • Water, snacks  and a lunch
  • Comfortable shoes for hiking
  • Layers in case of rain

Details and what to expect:

  • Level of difficulty-We will go on a moderate hike with some elevation gain
  • You will be asked to sign a liability waiver upon arrival
  • Carpooling- Please helps us reduce our impact on the property by carpooling to the preserve. A carpool will leave from Rincon Valley Regional Library at 8:45.
  • What if it's raining? We will continue in a light rain but cancel in the case of heavy rain or high winds. If in doubt please call (707) 544-7284 (then press 1) after 6AM on the day of the outing. If there is no special message the event is on!
