SRCS Owl Camp is a partnership between LandPaths and Santa Rosa City School District. This week SRCS Owl Camp is located at Preston Farm and Winery, a 125-acre family-operated, organic farm in Healdsburg’s Dry Creek Valley. The Preston family has stewarded the land over the last 45 years to create a diversified farm including vineyards, vegetables, fruit and olive trees, grain, and pastured livestock.
Creeks, Critters, and Life on the Farm
This week we will explore the amazing diversity of life found on the farm and in the cold salmon-bearing streams that make this place so unique. We will learn where our food comes from as we plant, harvest, and taste delicious organically grown fruits and veggies. We will play games, connect with the farm animals, and discover beneficial insects in the orchards. We’ll make sun tea and natural lip balm with fresh garden herbs and spend the afternoons exploring life in the creeks! At the heart of our camp is the opportunity for every camper to build memorable connections with the land and each other.

If your camper exhibits any cold or flu like symptoms, please have them stay home. A negative Covid test and/or a doctor’s note is required to return to camp.

Frequent handwashing and hand sanitizing
Covid19 Safety Protocols are subject to change based on the recommendations of the CDC, State and local authorities and current case numbers in Sonoma County.
Air Quality
Per LandPaths policies, air quality will be closely monitored, and programs canceled if the AQI (PM 2.5) is above 100.
Camp Details
Dates: June 26 – 30, 2023
Days: Monday – Friday
Time: 9 am – 3 pm (8:00 am – 3:45 pm with transportation from Santa Rosa, details below)
Ages: 6 – 13 (youth will be placed in camp groups based on age)
Who: Open to students who attend Title 1 schools in the Santa Rosa City School District only (Abraham Lincoln, Albert F. Biella, Brook Hill, Helen Lehman, James Monroe, Luther Burbank, Steele Lane, CCLA, Santa Rosa Middle, Herbert Slater, Hilliard Comstock)

Registration Information
You will need to register for each 1 week session separately. Please register for a maximum of 2 weeks of SRCS Owl Camp this summer. This allows more youth the opportunity to experience camp. If spaces remain available on May 15th, you are welcome to register for more weeks.

Transportation
SRCS will provide transportation to each camp location from Helen Lehman Elementary School, 1700 Jennings Ave., Santa Rosa, CA 95401.
The bus will leave the school at 8:15 am sharp (if a child misses the bus, the parent/guardian will need to provide transportation to camp). The bus will return to the school by 3:45 pm.
LandPaths staff will oversee bus loading and unloading. Please arrive early for check in and check out.
Attendance
If your child is absent from camp on the first day of camp, a LandPaths' staff will call to find out the reason. For all no-shows, if we are unable to get a hold of a parent/guardian on the first day, we will fill the spot with a student on the waitlist.
If your youth shows any signs of illness, please stay home and communicate with LandPaths staff.
Lunch and Snacks
Santa Rosa City Schools will provide school lunch and snacks
You are welcome to bring your own healthy lunch and snack to camp
Please bring a reusable water bottle filled with water
Staff
Our staff are CPR and First Aid-certified, skilled and trained outdoor educators bringing years of experience working with youth in outdoor settings. The staff to youth ratio is generally 1 to 12. We also have many wonderful and trained volunteers, making the adult to youth ratio closer to 1 to 4. All Camp staff and volunteers have been fingerprinted for background checks.
Campamento Búho SRCS en Bohemia Ecological Preserve
El Campamento Búho SRCS es una colaboración entre LandPaths el Distrito Escolar de Santa Rosa City Schools. Esta semana, el Campamento Búho está ubicado en Preston Farm and Winery, una granja orgánica familiar de 125 acres en Dry Creek Valley, Healdsburg. La familia Preston ha administrado la tierra durante los últimos 45 años para crear una granja diversa que incluye viñedos, hortalizas, árboles frutales y olivos, granos y ganado.
Animales y Vida en la Granja
Esta semana exploraremos la asombrosa diversidad de vida que se encuentra en la granja y en los arroyos que producen salmones que hacen que este lugar sea tan único. Aprenderemos de dónde proviene nuestra comida mientras plantamos, cosechamos y probamos deliciosas frutas y verduras cultivadas orgánicamente. Jugaremos juegos, nos conectaremos con los animales de la granja y descubriremos insectos beneficiosos en los huertos. ¡Haremos té en el sol y bálsamo labial natural con hierbas frescas del jardín y pasaremos las tardes explorando la vida en los arroyos! La meta de nuestro programa es ofrecer la oportunidad para que cada estudiante construya conexiones memorables con la tierra y con los demás.

Si su participante presenta algún síntoma de gripa, favor de quedarse en casa. Se requiere una prueba de COVID negativa y/o una nota del médico para regresar al campamento

Los protocolos de seguridad de COVID-19 son sujetos a cambios basados en las recomendaciones del CDC, de autoridades locales y estatales y de número de casos en el condado de Sonoma.
Calidad del Aire
Según las políticas de LandPaths, la calidad del aire será monitoreada de cerca y los programas se cancelarán si el AQI (el índice de calidad de aire) está por encima de 100.

Información de Inscripción

Transporte
El distrito proveerá transporte desde Helen Lehman Elementary School, 1700 Jennings Ave., Santa Rosa, CA 95401
El autobús sale de la escuela a las 8:15 am en punto (si pierden el autobús, los padres o tutores son responsables de proveer transporte al campamento). El autobús regresará a la escuela a las 3:45 pm.
Personal de LandPaths estará presente en la escuela al cargar el autobús. Por favor lleguen con tiempo para hacer check in.
Asistencia
Si su estudiante está ausente el primer día del campamento, el personal de LandPaths le llamará para averiguar el motivo. Para todos los que no se presenten, si no podemos comunicarnos con un padre/tutor el primer día, daremos su lugar a alguien en la lista de espera.
Si su estudiante muestra algún síntoma de enfermedad, quédese en casa y déjenos saber.
Comida Proveída
El distrito de Santa Rosa City Schools proveerá almuerzo y snacks para cada participante durante el campamento.
Pueden traer sus propio almuerzo y snack saludable al campamento si prefieren.
Por favor traigan una botella de agua reusable cada día.
Personal
Nuestro personal de educadores están capacitados y certificados en Resucitación Cardiopulmonar y primeros auxilios. Tienen capacitación y años de experiencia trabajando con jóvenes con enfoque en educación del medio ambiente. La proporción de personal a estudiante es generalmente de 1 adulto por cada 12 estudiantes. También contamos con un grupo de voluntarios capacitados que brindan asistencia durante todo el día, lo que hace que la proporción de adultos a estudiantes se acerque a 1 adulto por cada 4 estudiantes. A todo el personal y voluntarios se les ha revisado sus antecedentes por medio de huellas digitales.
