Mother’s Day Springtime Walk

Enjoy a free, guided interpretive walk along the sunny Laguna Trail on Mother’s Day. Soak up the sun, listen to the birds singing from their nests, and observe blooming flowers while spending quality time outdoors with friends and family and learning more about our beautiful backyard. After a short introduction at the Laguna Environmental Center, we will head out to the Laguna Trail to take a leisurely walk, spend time observing the flora and fauna, and eventually stop at a lovely vantage point to create nature-themed cards using pressed flowers to give to a mother figure in your life or simply to have as a decoration. 

The walk will begin and end at Heron Hall, but most of this workshop will take place outdoors at the Laguna Environmental Center and the nearby Laguna Trail along Occidental Road. We'll walk 1-2 miles on mostly flat but uneven terrain. Snacks and light refreshments will be provided in the morning. Participants can bring their own lunch if they’d like. This is a family-friendly event, and we will have bilingual staff available for translation and support. Rain cancels. 

 This free program is made possible through a partnership between the LandPaths, Laguna Foundation and Ag + Open Space. The District permanently protects the diverse agricultural, natural resource and scenic open space lands of Sonoma County for future generations. It is funded through a quarter-cent sales tax that was voted in by the residents of Sonoma County.

Great Blue Heron Hall at the Laguna Environmental Center: 900 Sanford Road, Santa Rosa, CA 95401 – at the intersection with Occidental Road. Please park in designated parking areas away from Heron Hall (it’s a short walk to the hall). Beginning and ending at Heron Hall, most of this workshop will take place outdoors at the Laguna Environmental Center and carpooling to the Laguna Trail back down Occidental Road.

PLEASE ARRIVE BY 11:45am to allow enough time for parking and check-in.

What to bring:

• Water bottle for the day

• Comfortable shoes for walking

• Sun gear and weather appropiate clothing (layers recommended)

Detail and what to expect: 

• Please arrive a few minutes early to sign in. There will also be snacks and refreshments available.

• This event will be lead by LandPaths staff, and Allison Titus, Community Education Program Manager of the Laguna de Santa Rosa Foundation

• From the center, we will carpool to the nearby Laguna Trail along Occidental Road

• This is a family-friendly event, and we will have bilingual staff available for translation and support

• no smoking, no pets and specially no smoking pets!

• What if its raining? We will continue in a light rain but will cancel in case of heavy rain. If in doubt, please call 707-544-7284 (then press 1) after 11 am on the day of the outing. If there is no special message, the event is on!
