Description:
LandPaths and our friends at Ag & Open Space, California State Parks, and the Friends of the Mark West Watershed invite you to join us for the annual Seasonal Celebration at Rancho Mark West! Relax with friends, new and old, and enjoy the forests and creeks of Rancho Mark West, just twenty minutes up the hill from Santa Rosa!
We'll be all set up for wreath-making so come up and make your very own seasonal wreath from beautiful trees, berries, and other materials found across the preserve! Come a little early and join one of our executive directors Craig Anderson for an hour of land stewardship from 10am - 11am. And the the celebration begins at 11am running until 3pm! Enjoy hikes around the preserve, live music, wreath-making, and other family-friendly activities. We'll provide hot cider and other snacks, and we're bringing back the potluck. So please bring a favorite seasonal dish to share, if you'd like! (Don't forget your reusable utensils and plates in order to keep this as a very low-waste event).
All ages and abilities welcome! This event is free thanks to our wonderful partners. Pre-registration is required so we know how many wreath-making materials to bring. Please register below.

About the area:
The Rancho Mark West property, encompassing a total of approximately 120.4 acres of land, is located along St. Helena Road northeast of Santa Rosa. The Property is comprised of restored Douglas-fir and redwood forests, annual grasslands, riparian habitat, and scattered stands of chaparral, is located along a 0.7-mile reach of Mark West Creek, a stream with an important biotic resource. The property borders and is visible from St. Helena Road, which is a Scenic Corridor that connects Sonoma and Napa counties. Jim and Betty Doerksen purchased Rancho Mark West in 1967. The Doerksen’s have worked tirelessly, planting upwards of “one million trees,” according to Jim. They also started the Doerksen Christmas Tree Farm – once a favorite holiday tradition for many families throughout the Bay Area. In 1998, Jim and Betty graciously opened the land to LandPaths, and other environmental and school groups. With over ten different habitats and a variety of wildlife this property is great for exploring and learning about nature that has something to offer for everyone.

Our staff is certified in the minimum of CPR and First Aid, and they have training and years of experience working in outdoor spaces. All staff has had their backgrounds checked through fingerprinting.
