Created especially for children ages 0 to 6 and their families/caregivers, Let's Read Outside is an exciting, outdoor literary adventure to get the weekend started right! All kids in attendance will receive a free book! 

Our guests will be the resident doctors from Sutter Family Medicine. Enjoy stories read aloud that center on eating healthy and taking care of yourself. You'll also learn a bit about Cesar Chavez, since it is Cesar Chavez Day! This event will happen rain or shine. If it's raining, dress in your warmest clothes and we'll make accomodations. Plus, there will be treats to eat and more fun surprise activities! 

Books : Eating the Rainbow (English/Spanish) Salvador Wants to be a Doctor (English/Spanish)

Activities: Building a healthy plate: stickers on a plate, Anatomy table: organs and anatomy man, Labcoats, stethoscopes and polaroids, Healthy beverages station with free toothbrushes for the kids! 

This is a bilingual event, with books read in English and Spanish. We do require that you register ahead of time in the link below. See you at Bayer! 

About Let's Read Outside 

Let's Read Outside is a garden program at Bayer Farm, Jeff's Garden at Andy's Unity Park and other Sonoma County open spaces. This is a special opportunity to get to know Bayer Farm and engage in aloud story time in the garden. The Let's Read Outside program provides opportunities for families to combine a love of reading with a love of being outdoors. Our goal is to increase the percentage of family members reading to children daily, while at the same time encouraging children and families to explore nature and get outside together. According to the Department of Education, the more children read and are read to, the more success they will have in their academic trajectory. Let's Read Outside story time offers an opportunity to model reading out loud to the children, explore Bayer Farm and foster a love of books! If you have never visited the park and garden, this is your chance!   

 Where:

This event will take place at Bayer Farm, 1550 West Ave. Santa Rosa, CA 95407.  

Due to limited parking space, please find street parking along West Avenue and walk to the garden.   

 What to bring:

• Anything that will make you and your child comfortable.    
• Your own reusable water bottle and snacks  
• Comfortable walking shoes and clothes that can get dirty   
• Special Note: If you have books that your child has outgrown, or simply wish to donate some children's book to the program, please bring them with you to this event! These books will get redistributed in future Let's Read events at Bayer Farm.  

What to expect:

• Community fun time outside, reading aloud and surrounded by the wonderful plants and critters of the garden.   
• You will be asked to sign a liability waiver upon arrival.   
•  There is a porta-toilet in the garden now available .   
• No smoking or pets allowed in the garden.   
• This event is free thanks to the collaboration between The City of Santa Rosa and your friends at LandPaths.

¡Leamos Afuera! Creado especialmente para niños de 0 a 6 años y sus familias/guardianes, Leamos Afuera es una emocionante aventura literaria al aire libre para comenzar bien el fin de semana. ¡También recibirá un libro gratis para agregar a su colección en casa!

Nuestros invitados este mes seran los residentes de Sutter Medical, estaremos disfrutando de historias  y actividades enfocadas en comidas saludables y como cuidarnos. tambien aprenderemos un poco sobre César Chávez, ¿quién es? ¿Y por qué es importante? Este evento ocurrirá llueva o haga sol. Si llueve, vístete con tu ropa más abrigada y te adaptaremos. ¡Además, bocadillos para comer y más actividades sorpresa divertidas!

Libros : Comiéndose el arcoíris (inglés/español) Salvador quiere ser médico (inglés/español)

Actividades: Construyendo un plato saludable: pegatinas en un plato, Mesa de anatomía: órganos y anatomía del hombre, Batas, estetoscopios y polaroids, Estación de bebidas saludables con cepillos de dientes para repartir.

Este es un evento bilingüe, con lectura de libros en inglés y español. Requerimos que se registre con anticipación en el siguiente enlace. 

Acerca de Let's Read Outside

Leamos afuera es parte de los programas de verano en el jardín en Bayer Farm, Jeff's Garden en Andy's Unity Park y otros espacios abiertos del condado de Sonoma. Esta es una oportunidad especial para conocer Bayer Farm y participar en la hora del cuento en voz alta en el jardín. El programa Leamos Afuera brinda oportunidades para que las familias combinen el amor por la lectura con el amor por estar al aire libre. Nuestro objetivo es aumentar el porcentaje de miembros de la familia que leen a los niños todos los días y, al mismo tiempo, alentar a los niños y las familias a explorar la naturaleza y salir juntos. Según el Departamento de Educación, cuanto más lean y lean los niños, más éxito tendrán en su trayectoria académica. La hora del cuento Let's Read Outside ofrece la oportunidad de modelar la lectura en voz alta para los niños, explorar Bayer Farm y fomentar el amor por los libros. Si nunca has visitado el parque y el jardín, ¡esta es tu oportunidad!

Dónde: Nos reuniremos en Bayer Farm; 1550 West Ave. Santa Rosa, CA 95407.  

Estacionamiento es limitado, favor de buscar estacionamiento sobre la calle West Ave y después caminar al jardín;   

Que Traer:

• Lo que ocupe para estar cómodo.   
• una botella de agua reusable   
• zapatos y ropa cómodos que se puedan ensuciar   
• Favor de notar: Si tienen libros con temas de la naturaleza que sus hijos/as ya no usan y quisieran donarlos al programa pueden traerlos a este evento. Usaremos los libros para regalar en las próximas sesiones de lectura en el jardín.   

Resumen de actividad:

• Una hora y media de diversión al aire libre y lectura en voz alta. Al fin de la lectura los participantes se llevarán un libro para agregar a su colección.  
• Les pediremos que firmen un acuerdo de liberación al comienzo del evento.   
• No se permite fumar en el jardín ni traer a sus mascotas.   
• No hay baños en el jardín, pero hay un baño portátil en el jardin.   
• Lea la versión más reciente de la política Covid-19 de LandPaths antes de asistir.  
• Este evento es gratuito gracias a la colaboración entre la Ciudad de Santa Rosa y sus amigos en LandPaths.
