Refresh the Redwoods at Rancho Mark West

10/03/2024 09:00 AM - 01:00 PM PT

Description

In 2021, hundreds of LandPaths’ volunteers planted 4400 redwood saplings at our Rancho Mark West Preserve. This was to replace the hundreds of trees that unfortunately died after the Glass Fire swept through the preserve.  More than two years after that epic planting, many of the trees have survived and with the dry season, they need to be watered. By hand! That’s where you come in!

Please join LandPaths for a morning and early afternoon watering the redwood saplings. We'll provide snacks and water, and an energizing morning of tending the land in a beautiful place! The more people that participate, the more trees we can keep healthy and happy!

About: Rancho Mark West is a place of refuge in the Mayacamas Mountains, 20 minutes east of Santa Rosa. LandPaths. With generous assistance from the California Coastal Conservancy, LandPaths purchased Rancho Mark West in 2011. Under the purchase terms, Jim and Betty Doerkson, have a reserved life estate on the property. Rancho Mark West is located on the ancestral home of the Southern Pomo people and the Mishewal Wappo people, past, present, and future. We recognize them as the first people and the first stewards of this land.

Will weather conditions affect the day? The stewardship workday will move forward if there is a light rain, but if there is a fire, dangerous smoke, strong winds or very high heat, we will cancel. Please call 707-544-7284 (then press 1) after 7am the morning of the stewardship day if the weather feels questionable. If you don't hear a notice of cancellation on the outgoing voice message, the stewardship day is moving forward.

We are excited to team up with you and take care of the land together!
