New Audiences: Exploring Myers/Ocean Song Preserve

Join us at the beautiful Ocean Song-Myers Preserve near the town of Occidental. We'll explore the beautiful landscapes together and hike trails through the gorgeous forest and grasslands. This nature outing will be coordinated in collaboration with Ag + Open Space and LandPaths. Come and be part of this special program where we combine nature, a little gardening, and curiosity. Individuals and families who have member with mobility impairment and or are neuro-divergent are more than welcome to register. We look forward to seeing you and your family!

This excursion is free and made possible by Sonoma County taxpayers, who fund the work of Ag + Open Space with a quarter-cent sales tax.

Difficulty: The hike will be easy/moderate with little elevation gain.

Meetup Location: Bayer Farm 1550 West Ave, Santa Rosa, CA 95407

Please be on time to make the most of the day—we will meet at 8:30 am and depart by 9 am in carpool.

You must be registered at the departure point to attend. Space is limited for those who register in advance.

About the Property: Ocean Song-Myers is an 800-acre protected preserve in western Sonoma County managed by LandPaths. The land has been the ancestral territory of the Southern Pomo and Coast Miwok people since time immemorial. The land is vibrant with native coastal grasslands, canyons, ponds and streams, mixed woodlands of oak and redwoods, and a habitat garden that benefits pollinators, birds, and humans alike. What to Bring: 

• There is no drinking water available on the property. Please bring your own water bottle.
• Please bring snacks and lunch for the day.
• Comfortable walking clothes; long pants are recommended for this outing.
• Shoes that can get dirty or wet. 

Details:

• We will ask you to sign a liability waiver.
• Landpaths will provide a water jug ​​where you can refill your water bottles.
• Please note that pets and smoking are not allowed on our outings.
• We will stay together as a group and leave together.

Staff: Our staff is certified in CPR and first aid, and has training and experience working in the wilderness. All staff and volunteers have been background checked and fingerprinted.
