Harvest Festival 

Bayer Farm, Santa Rosa

LandPaths and the Ag+ Open Space invites you to come and celebrate the end of the harvest season at Bayer Farm, in the heart of the Roseland neighborhood. Come learn about the abundance the land has to offer, enjoy an art exhibit by local artist and build community as we celebrate the harvest season! This event will take place at Bayer Farm Park & Garden; all ages and abilities are welcomed.

Where: Bayer Farm Neighborhood Park and Garden: 1550 West Avenue, Santa Rosa CA

The day's activites includes: Keynote speaker presentation, music, art, family activities, a salsa competition, community pot luck, garden tours, and much more! 

EVENT PROGRAM:

•  9am-11am: Sacred Body Sacred Land presentation from Dr. Jennie Luna, CSU Channel Islands 
• 12-2: Community Potluck
• 11:30-1: Salsa competion
• All day: Community activities, workshop, garden tours, music, and an art exhbit by local artist Nestor Torres

Keynote presenation from Dr. Jennie Luna: Sacred Body, Sacred Land: (Re)Connecting to our Healing Ways

Dr. Luna’s research incorporates Nahuatl language study, representations of Indigeneity, and the role of women in the Intercontinental and global Indigenous movements. As a practicing doula/labor assistant, her other research interests include Indigenous women’s reproductive rights, traditional birthing methods and reproductive justice.

Dr. Jennie Luna was born and raised in East San José, California. Granddaughter/Daughter of migrant farm workers and cannery workers, she is first in her family to attend and graduate college. She received her Masters in Education from Teachers College, Columbia University and her Ph.D. in Native American Studies from U.C. Davis. She has been teaching Chicana/o Studies and Native American Studies for over ten years at various institutions including U.C. Davis, Mills College, DeAnza College, San José State University, and New Mexico State University. Currently, she is an Associate Professor in Chicana/o Studies at California State University, Channel Islands.

• There will be well running water, soap, and compost bins to clean dishes afterwards
• Our potluck will take place in the garden side of the park 
• Enjoy an art exhbit by local artist Nestor Torres
• The event will begin with a workshop  from Dr. Jennie Luna, Ph. D CSU Channell Islands. Please RSVP to this workshop here. 
• Drop in whenever, or join us all day

What to bring:

• A potluck dish to share if you desire 
• Your own dishes- plates, utensils, etc. 
• Something to sit on (picnic chair, blanket)

Este evento se llevara a cabo en Bayer Farm Park & ​​Garden. Todas las edades y habilidades son bienvenidas.

Presentación de Dra. Jennie Luna: Cuerpo Sagrado, Tierra Sagrado: (Re) Conectando a nuestras formas de curación

La investigación del Dr. Luna incorpora el estudio del idioma náhuatl, representaciones de indigeneidad y el papel de la mujer en los movimientos indígenas intercontinentales y globales. Como asistente profesional de doula / asistente laboral, sus otros intereses de investigación incluyen los derechos reproductivos de las mujeres indígenas, los métodos tradicionales de parto y la justicia reproductiva.

La Dra. Jennie Luna nació y creció en el este de San José, California. Nieta / hija de trabajadores agrícolas migrantes y trabajadores de fábrica de conservas, ella es la primera en su familia en asistir y graduarse de la universidad. Recibió su Maestría en Educación de Teachers College, Columbia University y su Ph.D. en estudios de nativos americanos de la U.C. Davis Ella ha estado enseñando Estudios Chicana / o y Estudios Nativos Americanos por más de diez años en varias instituciones, incluyendo U.C. Actualmente, es profesora asociada en Estudios Chicana / o en la Universidad Estatal de California, Islas del Canal.
