Spring Hike to Top of the World at Bohemia Ecological Preserve
Description

Come celebrate the first day of spring with a hike and exploration of the beautiful Bohemia Ecological Preserve! We will hike through mixed conifer forests & native coastal prairies, culminating in the incredible view from 'Top of the world'. There is a fairly steep climb of 300' up the road to the final viewpoint. This hike will be led by Bohemia docent Phil!
Route and distance: Margaret Creek Trailhead, we will loop up to 'Top of the World' and back via Hut Hill. (They will carpool 3 cars there from the lower parking)
Approximate hike length and elevation gain*: 1.5-2 miles with about 400' elevation gain.
Audience: All welcome
What do the participants need to bring?: Water bottle, snacks, shoes with good tread, and walking sticks are recommended for the steep downhills.

There is a porta-toilet on the preserve.

No potable water available so be sure to bring a water bottle filled with water.

No dogs or other pets

No smoking or vaping on the preserve.

Please arrive on time.

Where we will meet: The entrance to Bohemia Ecological Preserve is off Bohemian Highway, approximately 3 miles north of Occidental. From the intersection of Graton Road and Bohemian Highway, drive north on Bohemian Highway for approximately 3 miles. Look for the LandPaths' sign marking the entrance. The address is 6773 Bohemia Highway, Occidental, CA 95465. Google maps is not always accurate to be sure to pay close attention to the address numbers. You must be with a LandPaths' docent to access to the preserve.

Cancellations: We will make every effort to let you know ahead of time if the outing gets cancelled and we would really appreciate a message from you if you need to cancel as well. These outings often have a waitlist. You can email us at outings@landpaths.org if you need to cancel.
Will we cancel if it rains? A light drizzle won't stop us, but we'll cancel if it's a heavy downpour. We'll email you if we cancel. You can also check back on this post; it will say "CANCELLED" if the program is called off.
