Volunteer Stewardship Day at Rancho Mark West

Join LandPaths' friendly stewardship staff for a morning dedicated to keeping the land healthy and resilient in the face of wildfire and other climate-change aggravated challenges. Plus, have fun outdoors with like-minded people!

A sampling of possible tasks for the day:

Hiking up and down moderate slopes
Pulling invasive grasses or French broom
Felling and limbing small Douglas Fir trees with small hand-saws and loppers
Moving woody material to the trail

What should you bring?

Lunch, snacks, and a water bottle filled with water
A backpack for your gear
Sturdy boots or shoes that can get muddy
Long pants are recommended
Work gloves
Hat and sunscreen
We'll provide tools, but bring your own if you'd like.
No power tools, please

What else do you need to know?

No experience necessary! Everyone is welcome! We will create tasks according to your abilities
You will be asked to sign a liability waiver
There are restrooms on site
No pets or smoking

We are excited to team up with you and take care of the land together!

Where to Meet/Directions: Meet LandPaths' staff and other volunteers at Rancho Mark West Preserve at 7125 St. Helena Road, Santa Rosa. From Calistoga Road, turn right onto St. Helena. Rancho Mark West is a few miles down on the right, past the old tree farm.

If we need to cancel due to weather or other circumstances: You will immediately receive an email if the program gets cancelled. However, if you would like to confirm, check back on this post; it will say "CANCELLED" if the program is called off. If you have any questions, call the office at 707-544-7284. Please know that the office is only open Monday - Friday from 9am - 5pm. All calls or emails sent before or after that time will be responded to on the next business day.
