Road maintenance at Bohemia Ecological Preserve

Description

Please join us in an effort to maintain the roads at Bohemia Ecological Preserve. The bushes are encroaching on the roadway which limits vehicular traffic, and they need to be cut back with loppers and hand saws. This property is not open to the public but there will be an opportunity for a hike afterwards.

10:30am - 12pm - Road Vegetation removal
12pm - 12:30pm - Lunch
12:30 - 2pm - Work continues
2pm - 3pm - (optional) Hike around the property with Michael

Where to Meet: Address will be disclosed to volunteers after signup, but is about 15 minutes west of Occidental. Please be there no later than 10:30am.

What to Bring with You:

Picnic lunch, snacks & plenty of water, backpack if you'd like to hike
Sturdy boots or shoes that can get muddy
Long pants recommended
Work gloves
Hat and sunscreen

What else do you need to know?

You will be asked to sign a liability waiver.
No stewardship or volunteer workday experience is necessary!
There is a restroom on the property.
There is no potable water available on the property. Bring your own water bottle filled with water.
No pets or smoking allowed.
No overnight camping allowed at the property.

Will the workday be canceled if it rains? A light drizzle won't stop us, but we'll cancel if it's a heavy downpour. We'll contact you if we cancel. You can also check back on this post; it will say "CANCELLED" if the workday is called off. If you have any questions, call the office at 707-544-7284. Please know that the office is only open Monday - Friday from 9am - 5pm. All calls or emails sent before or after that time will be responded to on the next business day.
