Are you a high school student looking for work experience and the opportunity make a difference this summer? Apply to be a Nature Camps Assistant with LandPaths for one of our nature camps at Rancho Mark West in Santa Rosa, Preston Farm in Healdsburg, and Bohemia Ecological Preserve in Occidental!

LandPaths busca estudiantes motivados para ayudar a los consejeros de campamento en la facilitación de los campamentos de niños, 15 semanas de campamentos basado en la naturaleza para estudientes de la escuela primaria. It's wildfire fuels reduction time on the preserve! Get to know the basics of burn piles and how they are a great land stewardship tool! You'll also get a chance to learn how to identify some of the amazing plants and trees on the preserve. And we'll be cooking snacks over the fire!

¿Alguna vez te has preguntado qué sucede con el agua después de jalar la cadena, bañarse o lavar los platos y la ropa? Los invitamos a un recorrido por la planta de tratamiento de aguas residuales de Sonoma Valley donde aprenderemos cómo se tratan, limpian y reciclan las aguas residuales. Visitaremos el laboratorio donde organismos microscópicos como rotíferos y ciliados limpian las aguas negras para producir agua reciclada de alta calidad. Luego, caminaremos en Hudeman Slough, donde el agua reciclada proveniente de la planta de tratamiento ayuda a restaurar una marisma salada, que es un hábitat en peligro de extinción. Durante la caminata buscaremos vida silvestre, incluidos insectos, patos y búhos.

April is usually spectacular on Sonoma Mountain. We'll check for wildflower and wildlife activity in field, forest, and canyon. Ocean Song-Myers is the 800-acre protected preserve in west Sonoma County stewarded by LandPaths. The land is the ancestral territory of the Southern Pomo people and the Coast Miwok people since time immemorial. The land is vibrant with native coastal grasslands, canyons, ponds and streams, mixed oak woodlands, redwoods, and a habitat garden that benefits pollinators, birds, and humans alike. Volunteer workday tasks vary with the season but can include habitat restoration, prepping the roads for winter, general preserve clean-up, forestry and wildfire fuel reduction, or garden maintenance. 

Join Landpaths docents Eberle and Colleen for native plant discovery at Lafferty to appreciate our native trees, shrubs and flowers. Bring your field guides/apps and lets walk the beautiful hills of Lafferty Ranch, identifying the plants as well as taking in the views of the Petaluma river and San Pablo bay! Under contract with the City of Petaluma, Landpaths has been leading hikes on the land to introduce groups to its history and natural features since the summer of 2022. The hiking terrain ranges from broad, gentle meadows to steep challenging hillsides. We’ll enjoy spectacular views of the Petaluma Valley, stretching southwards to Mt. Tamalpais and Mt. Diablo, all the way to San Francisco. The trail passes through groves of venerable oak and bay trees along the Adobe Creek, with a total elevation gain of 500’. You'll enjoy panoramic vistas, and a babbling, perennial stream. The hike will be above the creek up to a vista point at the mid-point meadow, where we will stop to enjoy the panoramic views and snacks before returning to our cars. Need help registering? Join LandPaths, Sierra Wagner, and the City of Healdsburg to take some time in nature to unplug, breathe in the fresh air and connect with yourself. We will explore a 2.2-mile easy loop trail in Healdsburg Ridge Open Space Preserve. Using mindful forest bathing practices, meditation and gentle stretches we will connect more deeply with our own inner wisdom and the wisdom of nature. Drop into the sounds, sights, and smells of the wilderness while boosting endorphins with a great hike. Gather with your loved ones for a family friendly adventure in Bohemia Ecological Preserve. On this family-friendly hike, we will explore the beauty of the Bohemia Ecological Preserve and engage all five senses to identify wildflowers, marvel at the fullness of the creek, and listen and look for birds and other wildlife. We will weave song and story and nature art into our exploration of the ecosystems and the watershed of Bohemia. LandPaths y el personal de Sonoma Water los invita a explorar el Río Ruso y aprender acerca del agua potable en el Condado de Sonoma y la diversa fauna de invertebrados del río. Observaremos invertebrados acuáticos como larvas de libélulas, moscas caddis y escarabajos acuáticos, usando microscopios. Luego caminaremos a lo largo del río y buscaremos vida silvestre y huellas de animales. Además, visitaremos uno de los pozos de agua más grandes de California, el cual extrae, filtra y distribuye agua potable y limpia a más de 600,000 personas cada día. Este paseo divertido y educativo es para individuos o familias con niños de cuarto año de primaria o mayores.

Join LandPaths and The city of Healdsburg on a beautiful hike through Healdsburg Ridge to enjoy the view of the full moon. We will wander thorough the preserve during sunset and catch the end of it at top then hike down in the beautiful moonlight!
