Have you wished you could visit beautiful Lafferty Ranch without taking a long hike? This is the outing for you!

You are invited to experience the land as you help tend the pollinator and habitat garden at Ocean Song-Myers Preserve, which is home to dozens of plant and animal species! 

Activities depend on the season, and might include pruning, mulching, mowing or other seasonal needs. Your abilities will guide the task!  Volunteer land stewardship days like this are the best way to experience Ocean Song Preserve, which is closed to public access. The day will be led by LandPaths' wonderful volunteer garden steward Jan Lochner.

LandPaths invites you on a coastal exploration of the Jenner Headlands Preserve, north of the Russian River Estuary and the small town of Jenner. We'll hike the reserve's trails with panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean. We'll also enjoy a picnic lunch at one of the scenic spots. This fun and relaxing outing is perfect for the whole family.

Come on out and help us prepare the garden. We need all hands on deck to get the plants into the ground so they can start growing before the kids arrive on the land!

Tend the grasslands with us! Grasslands are some of the most impacted ecosystems from removal of fire and tending, industrialization, and introduction of nonnative species. Working to restore these biodiverse ecosystems by removing non-native, invasive plants (aka plants out of place) and collecting native grass seed helps bring our grassland back into balance and learn more about them in the process.

Join us for a photo exploration of the beautiful Bohemia Ecological Preserve! We’ll hike on trails through native coastal prairies and mixed conifer forests while covering the basics of outdoor photography using your smart phone, pocket camera, or DLSR.

Join us for an astronomy night to explore the cosmos together at Petaluma's Lafferty Ranch. This nature outing will be coordinated in collaboration with LandPaths and Robert Ferguson Observatory faculty. We'll watch the sunset together. We'll use binoculars and telescopes to appreciate the stars, planets, cosmos, and views. ¡Vamos Afuera! 

Fast paced and hands-on, this two day course covers a wide range of wilderness medicine topics for people who travel and work in the outdoors. This course is pre-approved by such organizations as: the American Camping Association, the United States Forest Service, and other governmental agencies. It may also be used for wilderness medicine recertification by those with previous training from WMI of NOLS.

Join our New Audiences team on a bike tour! We'll explore the landscapes on our way to Sebastopol. We'll participate in an activity filled with art, creativity, and self-expression. LandPaths' garden and community hub in southwest Santa Rosa welcomes you! 

Come on out to beautiful Ocean Song/Myers Preserve and help us tend the land! Volunteer land stewardship days are the best opportunity to experience the land at Ocean Song as it remains closed to public access. In stewarding the land in common purpose, we help to maintain healthy habitats, reduce the chances of catastrophic fire, and build a community connected with place. We have tasks for all skill levels and abilities.

Join volunteer docents Paloma and Lexi, along with bird enthusiast Scott Cambell, for a morning of birdwatching at Bohemia Ecological Preserve! Scott will lead the birdwatching portion of the hike. Please bring your own binoculars, though we'll have one pair to lend. We're hoping to spot and hear hermits, a variety of thrush, crows, ravens, turkey vultures, turkeys, woodpeckers, owls, red-shouldered hawks, and many more! The hike will be 2-miles total and at a moderate level of exertion.

Join volunteer docents Emily Wolf McMane, a certified Forest Therapy Guide with the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy (ANFT) and Lindsey Dyer, outdoor educator, for a Forest Therapy Hike at Bohemia Ecological Preserve. Forest therapy is based on the Japanese practice, shinrin-yoku, which can be translated as "forest bathing” or “taking in the atmosphere of the forest.” Walks typically last 2.5-3 hours depending on the number of participants. While this walk is not a hike, we will be traversing some rocky and steep terrain, so please prepare for a moderate difficulty level. Participants are welcome to bring a bag lunch. There will be time at the end of the experience to picnic by the creek. These walks are appropriate for adults and older teens. Please find other arrangements for small children and pets.

Join docent Larry Modell, a long-time advocate for public open space, and and our co-sponsored/co-hosts Sonoma Mountain Preservation, to explore Lafferty Ranch Open Space on upper Sonoma Mountain and get a view from the perspective of deep time and the flow of water. Learn how the San Andreas Fault is connected to the formation and shape of Sonoma Mountain, from which water flows to San Pablo Bay and the Pacific Ocean.
