You are invited to experience the land as you help tend the pollinator and habitat garden at Ocean Song-Myers Preserve, which is home to dozens of plant and animal species! 

Activities depend on the season, and might include pruning, mulching, mowing or other seasonal needs. Your abilities will guide the task!  Volunteer land stewardship days like this are the best way to experience Ocean Song Preserve, which is closed to public access. The day will be led by LandPaths' wonderful volunteer garden steward Jan Lochner. 

Come on out to beautiful Ocean Song/Myers Preserve and help us tend the land! Volunteer land stewardship days are the best opportunity to experience the land at Ocean Song as it remains closed to public access. In stewarding the land in common purpose, we help to maintain healthy habitats, reduce the chances of catastrophic fire, and build a community connected with place. We have tasks for all skill levels and abilities.

Alguna vez te has preguntado cómo un hongo parece salir mágicamente del suelo? ¿O cuántos diferentes colores de hongos hay? ¿O por qué algunos hongos tienen una forma típica redonda, pero otros son extraños y viscosos? Si es así, esta aventura es para ti. Aprenderemos sobre el importante papel de los hongos en nuestro ecosistema mientras tratamos de encontrar hongos diferentes y extraños durante una caminata relajada por la reserva Ocean Song. Las carriolas no son recomendadas para este evento.

Have you ever wondered how a mushroom seems to magically pop out of the ground? Or how many different colors of mushrooms there are? Or why some mushrooms have a typical round shape, but others are strange and slimy? If so, this adventure is for you. We will learn about the important role mushrooms play in our ecosystem as we try to find different and strange mushrooms during a relaxed hike through our Ocean Song preserve. Strollers are not recommended for this event.

January mornings at Petaluma's Lafferty Ranch on Sonoma Mountain feature cool air and green hillsides.  Join long-time public lands advocate Larry Modell to explore this special place

Join us at Mark West Ranch with LandPaths! We'll explore part of the 120-acre property—the Mark West Creek, the pond, trails, and redwood and oak forest! We'll take a leisurely walk, visit the preserve's garden, and then share seeds for spring planting and play some family games. This is a family-friendly event; all ages are welcome.

Join LandPaths docents Bruce, Brian and Joy for a beautiful Winter hike at Lafferty Ranch. We will be examining plants, listening to the creek and the birds, and to taking in the long winter views of the valley floor.

Friends, neighbors, and stewards of all ages! Foster a love of the land with us on Valentine's Day by helping to get rid of invasive French broom at our beloved Fitch Mountain Preserve. LandPaths will provide the snacks and drinks. This is a family friendly stewardship day, so bring the kids! ¡Amigos, vecinos y voluntarios de todas las edades! February brings green grass and full streams to Lafferty Ranch Open Space on upper Sonoma Mountain. Join docent Larry Modell, a long-time advocate for public open space, to explore this unique property and discuss its future

The Queer Forestry and Fire Program is a six-week training course in the basic skills, practices and implementation of hand tool focused forestry. This community-oriented opportunity will allow participants from all backgrounds and experience levels to cultivate a greater understanding and skillset in basic forestry practices, tree and other plant identification, proper hand tool use and maintenance, forest thinning protocols, knowledge of grassland ecosystems and their importance, proper burn pile formation and implementation, and prescribed burn unit preparation. The program is designed to create a safe space for queer identifying persons to come together in a safe space for a project to restore a forest/grassland ecosystem and return good fire to the land.

You're warmly invited to lend a hand at Rancho Mark West!  Hello community stewards, come burn some piles with LandPaths stewardship team and help reduce wildland fire fuels! We spend much of the year thinning and pruning our beautiful forests to encourage healthy growth, reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfire, and build community. Almost all of the prunings and cuttings taken during this time are piled and once the rains hit it's time to burn those piles. Burn piles are a safe and efficient way to reduce wildland fire fuel, are a great and easy introduction to wildland fire, and most importantly, are lots of fun! Our burn days are available to all people of all ages and require no certifications or previous experience. Come see us at one of our preserves for a Good Fire day!

Come celebrate the first day of spring with a hike and exploration of the beautiful Bohemia Ecological Preserve! We will hike through mixed conifer forests & native coastal prairies, culminating in the incredible view from 'Top of the world'.
